I’ve had a long love affair with fashion, styling and designing looks since I was a young girl. But, I didn’t truly appreciate its value until the summer I taught at a fashion summer camp. The girls there absolutely lit up when they saw themselves in clothing that made them look as good on the outside as they felt on the inside. I knew then that I was meant to help young women appreciate their inner beauty, and build their self-confidence through fashion.

So I decided to study Fashion Merchandising at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. I thought I could make a change by having a hand in what is offered to women. It wasn’t until my senior year that an advisor encouraged me to pursue creative design. I gave it a try, and absolutely loved it.

There was no looking back from there. After accepting a scholarship to the Parsons School of Design, I hightailed it to New York City to major in Fashion Design. While I was a student, I honed my skills outside the classroom, working with large and small fashion houses to gain a breadth of experience.

My first salaried position was as a digital visual merchandiser for a menswear company. I ended up being incidentally laid off when a new creative director took over. But, this “setback” turned out to be a blessing. It was the push I needed to start my own fashion brand.

During this transition, I reached out to the connections I’d made over the years, and found that my colleagues were gracious enough to offer their support, resources, and advice.

So, here I stand today, after stepping out on faith.

K. RaShaé was launched in 2016 as a luxury women's clothing line. The diverse range of each collection incorporates luxurious textures, volume, and bold patterns for beautiful statement pieces that are ready to wear. Each garment exudes confidence, determination, and individuality—all with an über chic-yet-comfy flair.

I consider the message each piece sends out, so I’m careful to express themes of personal empowerment and self-confidence. I call this purpose-driven design that encourages women to be true to themselves and embrace the characteristics that make them uniquely different.

I hope my story and clothing collections inspire you to go after your own dreams. You are capable of accomplishing anything you put your mind to. All you have to do is believe in yourself.
